Fate of a Suresh Raj supporter!

With historical CA election, Nepalis have proved that they are quite mature and ready for change. Initial reports of booth capturing and clashes did not escalate and all the political parties, including CPN Maoist, have shown a firm belief in free and fair election. This shows that we as a nation can go ahead peacefully for nation building. Political observers have opined that the scale of violence in CA election is even less than what Nepal used to witness during general elections. Hope national and international political observers would also confirm this.

Close on the heels of peaceful conclusion of CA election, election results are likely to be announced today for various constituencies in Kathmandu valley. There have been some trends already visible and these trends indicate that Nepalis have accepted the process of mainstreaming of the Maoists also. The voting trends indicate that the Maoists' campaign of building "New Nepal" and "Give a chance to the Maoists" have many takers amongst the voters. With the rise of the Maoists in Kathmandu, UML seems to have suffered much.

Voting trends in Kathmandu constituency-1 indicate that incumbent Minister Pradip Nepal, a strong supporter of "Developer" Suresh Raj Sharma, is going to face defeat. Out of 50% votes counted, he is trailing behind by more than 3,000 votes. Blogger KP of Hamroblog (प्रकाशमान कि प्रदिप नेपाल ?) claims that NC vice-president Prakash Man Singh is likely to win in that constituency. This imminent defeat of Pradip Nepal clearly indicates that voters of Kathmandu-1 has defeated supporters of corrupt, nepotistic administrator of KU Prof. Suresh Raj Sharma.

During KU movement, when some faculties met with Madhav Nepal of UML to take action against Suresh Raj Sharma. Madhav Nepal, however, flatly told that Suresh Raj was doing good and he refused to support a movement for academic freedom in Kathmandu University. Later on, on his instruction, Pradip Nepal, as Minister of Education and Sports, helped for perpetuation of Suresh Raj in Kathmandu University. Many Nepalis are still angry with this decision of Ministry of Education. Similarly, as a minister of Education Ministry, Pradip Nepal blatantly politicalised Nepal's academia by politically dividing VCships of various universities in Nepal. The immature decisions of Pradip Nepal is going to have a lasting effect on our academia. So, politicizing academia and allowing perpetuation of communal, casteist, racist, corrupt and nepotistic Suresh Raj Sharma are some of the reasons for defeating Mr. Pradip Nepal. Nepali intellectuals were just looking for the moment and CA election has provided the one.

We are very happy that we did our bit to expose all these politicians who support Suresh Raj in exchange of monetary benefits, admission and scholarships to their kith and kin.
