Quality education:politicization by administrators must end

After provision of autonomy to administrators of KU,they have violated each and every rule in the rule book. And these rules, in turn, are based on thier own whims and fancies rather than the country’s rule of law. That's why the overall development of a KU has stagnated and would not have developed this much had faculties and staffs not given their best efforts. No need to say that development of institutions serving the country’s need in general and satisfying costumers’ needs in particular depend on good academic environment. The development principle calls for functional autonomy of the institutions, especially educational bodies. The very essence of autonomy calls for autonomy for everything. It means autonomy to the teachers for voicing their voices and it also means autonomy to the students to make their choices. But, in KU, functional autonomy is being tranlated as free will to Suresh Raj, Sitaram and Bhadraman as well as notorious Pushparaj to impose their nepotism and wayward administration. In a context where eight university level organisations and thousands of other schools and colleges are affiliated to the government, the question is whether peoples like Suresh Raj, Sitaram, Bhadrman and Pushparaj be provided an immunity and amnesty to be emulated by all?

No doubt, universities are established under the Acts passed by the parliament and each University Act claims that the universities are autonomous bodies. In such situation, is not it detestable to interpret autonomy as a family rule? Ever since Suresh Raj presided over in KU, KU has become synonymous with corruption laden institute. And ever since KUPA movement is launched in KU, commoners have given their no no to blatant neptoism in KU. And in the heat of moment, Suresh Raj has already caused one valueable life to loose his life. Does not blood tainted hand of Suresh Raj clearly indicate how some ruthless administrators force employees to commit suicide in the name of autonomy?

The big question, in this context, concerns the disturbance in educational institutions caused by nepotism of university administrators. There are no differences between mafias of drug business and those operating in educational establishments. Because of these very corrupt nepotistic people, educational institutions are not able to exercise freedom. Shouldn't a teachers’union be treated differently from the treatments meted out to labourers’ trade union? How much intelligence and knowledge teachers can generate, store and propogate is known to everyone. Everyone knows that by setting up their common forum like KUPA teachers and professors are now taking on mafias like Suresh Raj, Sitaram and Bhadram. And these mafias, unable to withstand moral pressure from intellectuals, have started attacking these intellectuals with brute force.

Has Man Prasad Wagley be ever beaten by goons of Dhulikhel?

Has any goonda of Suresh Raj ever broken any one of your 32 teeths?

If not so? how can you understand the pressure professors and teachers of KU are under the mafia spell of Suresh Raj and Sitaram?

Now, Mr. bootlicking Man Prasad Wagley, tell me whether Suresh Raj and Sitaram has victimized any upright faculty member or not?

In such situation, if teachers do not organize strikes, what should they do? Should they also go to Suresh Raj and lick his boot for deanship like you do?

And, you chamcha ponitificating us that we are betraying the institution by voicing our pains?

Do you know who is victim? An innocent faculty who has nothing at his disposal or mafias like Suresh Raj and Sitaram, who can cajole each and every political party and leaders therein with thick moneybags?

Everybody, including intellectual bootlickers like Mana Prasad Wagley, must know that misdeeds, deaths, beatings and haraasing of faculties are now leading to criminalisation of KU. Chaos, disturbances, strikes and suicides are being enforced in KU by Suresh Raj to brighten future of his (their) progenies. At least, so called columnists like you, must understand this basic fact. And if you think that only you have writing ability and analytical background, I am sorry that we are not going to remain silent.

You are right that the other important issue is the moral ground of the scribes like you. Should you not think of organizational rights while penning your bloody article lampooning our rights? The history of student and teacher agitations has always been characterised by manipulations by nepotistic administrators like Suresh Raj and Sitaram. These manipulators always impose their ideas while not heeding the view of the teachers and student. At the extreme, they have shown insensitivity towards the rule of law by using their henchment to threaten an efficient staff to the death. The manipulating adminsitrators do not seem to have much respect for the humanity while violating sacrosant academia of KU in addition to the rule of law. Because of their viciousness, every student and faculty is now subjected to mental torture along with innumerable physical abuse.

The cases of beating of Dandapanijee, gheraoing of Professor Kafle by tainted brother of responsible authorities of KU, threatening Buddhi Bahadur Bishwakaram are burning examples of common practices of Suresh Raj and Sitaram. The practices of calling goondas from Dhulikhel, chanting slogans against KUPA, taking up support of political pimp, locking up main gates to facilitate beating of staffs when classes are on have increased. Moreover, the behaviour of these administrators towards the faculties and staffs demonstrates that they do not feel a servant of the institution; rather they think that it is in their private ownership.

Every institution has its own set of laws and regulations that are enough to take care of various situations. But why are the administrators of KU are reluctant to resign? Is it because they are afraid of losing their big bucks that they garner through corruption and building construction? Or do they want to continue to support such undesirable actions till their wards take over from them? The heads of teachers organizations like KUPA should be bold enough to make decisions based on the legal provisions. Nothing can be stronger than the Act itself. The tendency of putting undue pressure on staffs, teachers and students to not raise voices against nepotism, corruption, HARASSMENT TRIGGERED DEATH OF EMPLOYEES is a barbaric act.

The eight parties have established consensus on decision-making. With some exceptions, this united front now seems successful in leading the country towards constituent assembly. It will be very good for the country if the eight parties come to a consensus on minimum standard in education as well. They must ensure that murderers, molesters, and corrupt people should no longer continue as vice chancellor. If the parties instruct their leaders, mainly the ones who take money from Suresh Raj and Sitaram, not to run their hegemony in KU and other educational institutions, Nepal’s development through this vital sector is inevitable.
