Sack Suresh Raj !
Ever since KU movement started, Suresh Raj and his group tried to brush it under the carpet. Sometimes, they termed the movement as a political tool to dislodge an honest(?) administrator while taking pains to equate himself with a hermit. Sometimes, they used local goons to beat, threaten, and even harass to death innocent employees. For last year, whatever Suresh Raj and his cronies have done has totally exposed this charlatan whose punch line has remained "privatisation brings quality." Definitely, Suresh Raj is right in a sense. Though KU has been sliding down for last decade, yet Suresh Raj and his cronies have been able to live quality lives off the coffer of KU. KU has not given that much quality to anyone as much as it has given to Suresh Raj. So, it is understandable that Suresh Raj would stick to VCship for life while chanting mantras of "privatisation brings quality."
Suresh Raj has exhibited so much obduracy and obstinacy that his detractors now openly joke around that he would don saffron clothes one day to proclaim himself as a sage VC. In the manner Suresh Raj is inviting public ridicule now, many of his past admirers are in a state of shock. They are now of the opinion that Suresh Raj is crossing his limits and becoming more nastier. Understandably, when an administrator of academia behaves as a petty politician, it is sure that academic values would take a beating and academia turns into an institute of derision. His admirers have started whispering that Suresh Raj must quit now. They are ready to forgo any investigation into his high-handedness and corruption in KU in exchange of saving academia in KU.
Obviously, stubbornness of Suresh Raj has now started to erode public faith in KU system. People are aghast that so called icon of quality education has stooped so low to save his chair. If Suresh Raj were honest in his approach, no other entity would ever be able to question his dealings. Similarly, he would not have minded any organization coming up in KU. But for his dishonesty on which whole edifice of KU administration is resting now, he has left no stone unturned in lampooning KUPA and KUSA. His line of argument is that by having organisation for the welfare of employees and teachers, politics would enter into KU. He is claiming that KU should be different from TU and for this very purpose KUPA and KUSA should never be allowed to function. Recently, he has even claimed that KU regulations does not have any space for these organisations in KU. To utter dismay of public yearning for a just system, he has openly gloated about KU regulations as if they are what he interprets them.
How cunning and dastardly Suresh Raj has become can be gauged by the fact that he is not even sparing faculties who voiced their opinion from overseas. Suresh Raj claims that faculties who opposed him are not dutiful towards KU. As usual, this time also he resorted to fallacious arguments and started claiming that faculties were trained very hard and now faculties are deserting KU. Merely for raising voices against his crimes, Suresh Raj should have never said so. Suresh Raj should have known very well that even amongst life partners also, mutual criticism is possible. He should have known that no body is beyond criticism. And merely for criticising him and his nepotism by ex/present faculties on solid basis of his nepotism, he should not have resorted to retaliation. But, by very retaliation, Suresh Raj has shown that he does not tolerate criticism. And this retaliation of Suresh Raj is an indication of the fact that he is fast loosing not only his sanity but also his grounds.
Two wrongs never make a right. Without explaining his dubious deals in KU and his mechanism of Nepotism, Suresh Raj can not escape so easily. It is true that faculties might have violated KU service regulations. It is possible that some faculties might have stayed abroad beyond stipulated period. But, that does not make any faculty as dishonest as Suresh Raj is. Why the faculties are bound to do that could be because of compulsions and some personal reasons. Besides, majority of the faculties abroad now are never known to have indulged in petty dealings like that of Suresh Raj. It is possible that there may be some black sheeps amongst the faculties abroad. But, still many of them have lived off their own efforts. None of them ever bossed around, resorted to mindless corruption and more mindless nepotism. In such situation, Suresh Raj's diatribe against selected faculties barring his relatives and psychophants abroad is an indication of his vindictiveness. This vindictiveness of Suresh Raj is very old and traced to his being a pure mandale.
From Buddhi Bahadur Bishwakarma to faculties abroad, Suresh Raj has consistently attacked employees and staffs of. He has spared neither present employees nor past faculties. He has attacked everyone who spoke the truth and expressed their anguish over rotten state of affairs in KU. In the eyes of Suresh Raj and his cronies, people who oppose them are enemies of KU. People who question their dubious dealings are their number one enemies. And to devastate real saviours of KU, Suresh Raj can go to any length. He has already murdered one employee of KU by official harassment. He has already thrashed many faculties and employees of KU. In sheer brinkmanship, he has not only tainted his own reputation, but also that of KU.
Suresh Raj is a mere human being. He can not exist for ever. But, KU has to exist for ever. If KU is equated with one mortal but ruthless fellow like Suresh Raj, it is sure that image of KU will take a beating beyond redemption. To save KU and to protect its plummeting societal importance, it is imperative that we get rid of Suresh Raj.
KUPA and NUTA has launched fresh rounds of agitation to press the government. NUTA general secretary has appealed all to give their support to remove tainted administrators of KU and Lumbini University. Without removing these officials, KU and Lumbini University would remain embroiled in agitation for a long period. Most of the administrators in these universities have already lost public confidence also. It is right time that government of Nepal must come forward to honour previous commitments made with apex body of teachers like NUTA. The government of Nepal must not vacillate in matter related to sacking people like Suresh Raj.
And here is the rest of it.
